Dryness :(

Hi all,

My skin is really dry now :( it's quite flaky in places and also a bit itchy and sore. I still have more blister-like spots and these are pretty red now, although make up is covering them (Revlon Colour Stay Foundation is suiting me at the moment).

My joints have been slightly achy too, but only when I exercise really. Day to day activities aren't affecting them.

Good luck to anyone else taking roaccutane, hope this acts as a support to you :) x

Week One

Okay well, here goes!

I have had acne since I was 10, and I'm now 21. I have tried everything.....every topical treatment, ointment, antibiotic, supplement.....you name it, I've tried it! But nothing would shift my acne. At 21 I really don't think I should have to put up with this any more. For anyone who has suffered with acne you will know that it's more than just having to put a bit of concealer each day (if only!), it really does take over your life.

I've heard a lot of stories about Roaccutane which put me off, but it really is a last resort for me. I have decided to start a blog so I can share my experiences, I hope you find it helpful.

I started taking Roaccutane last Tuesday (14th December 2010). I've heard it can make your skin really dry, so before I started taking it I got rid of all my usual spot fighting products and replaced them with more moisturising products. I'm now using Simple's moisturising range.

Over the last couple of days I have definitely noticed that my skin has become very dry. Whenever I'm not wearing make up I'm slapping moisturiser on and loads of lip balm (Elizabeth Arden 8 hour cream is great for lips too). The inside of my nose is a bit dry too and inside my ears. I have got a few more spots than before (I've been told it can get worse before it gets better) and these are a bit boil like around my mouth/chin area which are quite sore :( I actually struggled eating today (unusual for me!) as it was hard to open my mouth.

I know it sounds bad but if it works I really don't mind.

I'll try to update this regularly to keep people up to date. Please pass it on to anyone who you think might find this useful and feel free to post any comments/ questions/etc.

Lozzie x
